Knitting

I’m participating in a Lion Brand KAL, the Saturday Morning Hoodie. You can find information about it here on Ravelry or here. It looks like it would be a nice comfy cardigan to be lazy in – something I good at. I’m knitting it with Lion Brand Tweed in Woodlands colorway. To be honest, I’m not a huge acrylic fan but I do like this yarn. It’s soft and I just want to curl up in it. Great for a sweater!

I’m not too far on the sweater yet but hope to knit a little each night. I’m a very slow knitter and haven’t tried an adult knitting project but I don’t plan to use this until next fall so I have a lot of time to finish.

I’m working on the back and this is what I have finished so far.

I also have a dishcloth/washcloth I’m working on. It’s for a Cloth and Soap swap, another group on Ravelry. I’m almost done but stopped working on it last week when I got sick. It’s currently sitting at work so I need to get it and finish it. This one has to be mailed by March 5 so I still have time.

Wadda week it was!

The weather was great here last week…at least that’s what I heard. I was sick and missed most of it. It started the weekend before when we kept Bunny overnight while my daughter and Frog moved. Bunny’s nose was running like a fresh water stream and me, being me, caught it quicker than a trout after a fly. So I spent the week coughing, blowing, and feeling all over miserable. Until Thursday night – when I was overcome by only the Lord knows what. I think it was a touch of intestinal flu. Whatever it was, it kicked my bohinkus big time! I didn’t start feeling human again until Sunday. Hubby has been sleeping in the guest room. He said he tried to sleep in our room last night but I was coughing so much he couldn’t get to sleep. I thought I slept better than I had been, didn’t know I was trying to cough up a lung in my sleep. Bunny and I are headed to OK this weekend to visit my mom and sister. Hopefully we are both up to par by then.

I did get crafty over the weekend. I spent Sunday browsing the blogs I read and came across these. I haven’t had a chance to take a pic so have nothing to show but will post them soon. I decided to make the cards into magnets and thought I’d put them on the cabinet in my classroom at the door. That way I can see it and my students can as well. Unfortunately I ran out of the magnet laminating adhesive for my Xyron. I’ve sent an order off for more and will finish once it comes in.

So until then, I’m off to bed to cough my way through the night! See ya!

Movies

Machete: a movie review

I was going to tell you that if your husband ever come home with the movie “Machete” to run and never look back. After all the first five minutes include the main character blowing a dozen or more people away with a six-shooter without reloading. Then he comes upon a naked woman laying on a bed and tells her to get dressed to which she replies, “It’s too hot for clothes.” So he does what any man would do and picks her up, slings her over his shoulder and leaves. When he puts her down, she pulls out a cell phone to call the bad guy. However when you see him jumping out of a window using a man’s intestines as a rope, I couldn’t figure out why this movie didn’t win an Oscar!

This movie has some well-known actors including Robert Deniro, Jessica Alba, Don Johnson, Cheech, Steven Segal, and Lindsey Lohan. Most of whom, with the exception of Steven and Lindsey, must have lost some sort of bet to agree to be in this movie.

I’ll admit, I watched the entire movie. If you can get past the language and ridiculous amount of blood, it’s stupid enough that it gets a sick chuckle or two. I can’t believe I watched the whole movie and I would not recommend it to anyone, unless you’re a sick puppy like me!

Thing-a-day 3: Keep Me Clean Spring

My 3rd installment in the Thing-a-day project. I made this for Bunny so we can get messy when she comes over. That is as long as grandpa doesn’t freak!

I took a napkin I received as a wedding gift. It included 4 napkins and 4 placemats which we haven’t used at all that much. I just folded back two of the corners and sewed them on a diagonal then attached some ribbon for the ties. It was super easy and a great way to use up things I have. Just another reason not to throw anything away…you never know when or how you might use it!

Thing a day 1: The 5 minute card

I’m participating in Thing-a-Day 2011 over at http://thing-a-day.com/. It is a “collective creative blog that lives for one month every February. Participants commit to create new things every day and share them with the rest of the group” (taken from their site. It took me forever but I figured out how to autopost my entries there to this post. Below is day 1.

This was a quick make, hence the name, using scraps I had. Not sure what I’ll use it for. Maybe a happy spring card if Spring ever gets here!
