This t-shirt vest is the 2nd project I completed from my Summer Crafting List. I used the after picture here as a guide but didn’t read the directions in the blog post. It was easy but I should have used a larger t-shirt as I do not like the way this fits me. I chose a baggy t-shirt I already had but you really need to buy a shirt one or two sizes larger than you wear.
To make, you need a t-shirt one or two sizes than you wear and a pair of scissors. That’s it!
To make the vest, I drew a straight line up the middle of the front of the t-shirt, the cut it and cut out the neck and collar. I cut the sleeves off at the seams and cut the seams of the shoulders off. I then found that I needed to cut along the middle a little more. I also cut a little more from under the armpits to make it fit better.
Once everything was cut, I tied the shoulders back together in knots. Below is the final product.
You can cut the hem around the bottom off but I decided to leave it on for a finished look. I like the was this turned out even though I didn’t use a shirt large enough so it doesn’t really fit me. It was so easy to make and only took about 10 minutes to make. This is something that anyone can do!
