Today is the last day of school! As a teacher, I always enjoy my summers. I’ve never taken a second job in the summer but I am always busy! This summer I have 15 days of meetings that are teacher related. I also plan, like every summer, to evaluate and update my curriculum as needed. I keep thinking there will be a day that I don’t have to do anything to my curriculum but that day will never come. There are always improvements that can be made.
I do plan to visit my family. I’m heading to visit my Mom and sister next week. Their church has vacation bible school that week, so I thought I would take my oldest granddaughter down for that. Plus my granddaughter will get to see one of her favorite cousins and the 11 kittens his two cats had! She is so excited!
I need to make plans to visit my dad as well. He lives in Colorado close to Salida. Talk about beautiful country! His house is in an open area surrounded by mountains. One of my husband’s sisters also lives in Salida, so we get to visit her as well. I’m thinking of taking one or both of the grandkids. They would love it, especially if we go to St. Elmo. It’s an old ghost town but there are hundreds of chipmunks you can feed. They are so tame and eat right out of your hand!
My husband and I aren’t taking a vacation this year but I hope to talk him into small mini-trips. I would like to drive up to Denver when we go to Colorado and go to the zoo. I am going to Washington D.C. for a meeting and think I will go a day early to get in some sightseeing. I’ll be there for a week but am in meetings all day so won’t have any other time to sightsee. I will be there the 4th of July and get to watch the fireworks from the National Mall! I’ve done that once before and it is amazing!
There are also several crafts and activities I want to do. Be looking for my summer crafting list. I want to play with my new Cricut, get out the scroll saw and see if it works, plus several other crafts. I need to clean and organize my craft room as well. I’ve have lots of sewing/crafting activities lined up to help with that project.
Finally, as usual, I will be spending time at the pool with my daughter and grandkids. They girls love the water! The oldest is 7 and getting more adventurous in the pool. The youngest is 2 and has no fear of the water at all. It takes two of us to watch them while swimming. They do like to play together in the water but like most sisters, also like to do their own thing.
So those are my summer plans. It’s going to be a busy, fun summer. What are your plans for summer? Do you visit family, take a vacation, or chill at home with the kids/grandkids? I’d love to know!
